Hoshino Visit

On Thursday 23rd August visitors from the Japanese school Hoshino Gakuen Came to our school. This gave us a chance to learn about the Japanese culture as well as teaching them about the Kiwi culture. I really enjoyed doing the activities they set up for us such as... paper sumo, origami and spinning tops. I had a buddy named Yusuke. Yusuke and I had a fun time and we got to know each other. I look forward to learning more about foreign cultures.

Reflection In this activity I was learning to write an explanation. I found this activity easy because my teacher made a very clear success criteria and a process to follow. I think I did well in this activity because my writing meets the success criteria.

Divisibility Rules


Reflection In this activity I was learning about divisibility rules from 1 - 10.
I had to find the divisibility rules on google and the make a slideshow about them. I found this activity easy because I just had to remember things and put it on a slideshow.
I think this activity will really help me in the future.

African Praise Poem

My Reflection In this activity we were writing an African Praise Poem.
I think this activity was a lot of fun because we could play around with the way we presented the poem, but we still had some restrictions.
I think I wrote a good African Praise poem because I had descriptive and detailed words, I also made sure the poem relates to me and makes sense.

In this activity we were learning about plastic which is our inquiry topic. I found this activity easy because all the information was given in the website. I think I did well on this activity.

I found this activity easy because I new the differences and similarities. I think I did well on this activity because I have heaps of ideas.

Feelings Poem


My Reflection
In this activity we were learning to write a poem about a feeling, with our 5 senses.
I found this activity challenging because I got stuck at times.
 It was tricky to find things related to my senses and feeling, that are descriptive.
One thing I could do differently is putting my ideas down first and then make them interesting.
My next step is to get more confident writing poems.

Implicit and Explicit Information


We were learning to identify implicit and explicit information because this will help us with making inferences.
I found this learning fun and exciting.
Using explicit clues helped me with being successful in this activity.
My next step is to move on to harder inference activities.
