My Reflection
In this activity I was learning to write a fairy tale with a different problem and characters, this is called a fractured fairy tale.
I found it easy to write this because I like making up stories.
I think I wrote a good recount because I checked if my writing makes sense, has correct spelling and it flows.

Maniac Magee

My reflection I was learning to discuss and find examples of main ideas in stories.
I found this tricky because there were 26 slides I had to make.
Overall I think i did a good job on this task.

Inquiry - Soccer World Cup

I was learning to make a slideshow about my Inquiry topic, and I had to come up with eight questions about that topic.
I found this tricky at times when me and my partner couldn't find a website to search it up at, but at the same time it was fun to learn about this topic because we found out a mind blowing fact.
One thing I did well on this was adding animations and the hardest part, writing the facts in my own words and not copy and pasting them.
Overall I thought me and my partner did well because:
We didn't copy and paste.
We put in image to make it more clear.
We animated our slideshow.

Rarotonga Poster

In this activity we worked in groups and we had to find information about Rarotonga and then make a poster about it on our chromebooks. I found this activity hard because we had to try several websites to find information. I think my group did well on doing research.

Making Honey

In this activity I had to use information from our book about honey and then make a poster about honey on our chromebooks.
I found this work easy because we had a book about honey.
One thing I did well was writing the process of making honey.
 I found this work fun because I like making posters on the chromebook.

Geoboard Geometry

In this activity I had to use this website called Maths Learning Centre, and within the website there are tools, we used the tool called Geoboard. Then we had to make a symmetrical pattern using digital rubber bands, to make shapes.
I found this work tricky because I had to try again, and again to make my pattern symmetrical.
One thing I did well on this activity was making a good pattern.
I found this activity fun because I like trying out new apps.

Room 22 Maths Strategy

In this activity I was learning about a strategy called treble and third.
I found this work interesting because I like maths and learning new strategies in maths.
One thing I did well on this was finding the right problems and questions to use this strategy with. Overall I thought I did well on this activity.

Main Idea Pyramid

In this activity I was learning about main idea pyramids.
I found this tricky because I never did a main idea pyramid before.
Some things I did well on this activity was setting up the main idea pyramid and getting some ideas to reach to the main idea.
One thing I could do better is go into more detail with my ideas. Overall I thought I did well on this activity.

Explicit and Implicit

In this activity I was learning to identify explicit and implicit messages in the story.
I found this work easy because I could easily see the messages and if they were explicit, obvious or implicit, not obvious.
One thing I did well on this activity was identifying explicit and implicit messages in the book.
One thing I could better is explain the messages with a bit more detail. overall I thought I did a good job.

Mr. Galliano's Circus Relations Chart

In this activity I was learning to make a relations chart.
I found this work easy because I am good at relating things and characters to each other.
One thing I did well was describing the characters.
One thing I could do better is add more pictures into my chart.
Overall I thought I did a good job on this activity.

Book Review - Alfie Bloom and the Talisman Thief

In this activity I was writing a book report about Alfie Bloom and the Talisman Thief.
I found this easy because I have written book reports before and I am good at it.
One thing I did well in this activity was writing the description because I got help from the blurb and wrote it in my own words.
One thing I could do better is adding more pictures because I didn't add much.
Overall I think I did a good job on this activity.

Why You Should Wear a Uniform

In this activity I was learning how to write an impromptu speech.
In this activity I had to: Have an introduction for my speech, have four reasons about my argument and have an end.
I found this activity really easy because I had already thought of my four reasons before I started writing it so I knew what to write.
I think I was successful on doing this activity because I did everything in the success criteria.
One thing I could do better next time is add more thoughts and feelings.

If I Won Lotto

I was learning about impromptu speeches. 

I found this activity challenging because I could add on so much, but I kept on adding on. 

One thing I did well in this activity was using language features such as: similes and adjectives. 

Overall I thought I done a pretty good job. 

Next time I could add a bit more humour.

Bias, Prejudice and Stereotypes

In this activity I had to find the meanings of bias, prejudice and stereotypes. Then we had to find examples from the book we were reading, The boy in the Dress, and to do with a character called Dennis.
I found this activity a bit tricky because it was hard to write the meanings of the three words, in my own words.
In this activity I learnt the meanings of bias, prejudice and stereotypes.

In this activity I was learning to reflect on what I have been learning. I found this work easy because I am good at reflecting on things. One thing I could do better is expand the number of strategies I know on this and other activities on Mathletics.

Metaphors

In this activity we paired up and we had to explain what a metaphor is.
I think I did well in this activity because I contributed lots of ideas to my partner.
I had lots of fun doing this activity because I like making slideshows.

I thought I did well on this activity because I did everything that was expected. Also because I reread all my work so it makes sense.
I thought this was a fun activity because I like doing things on technology.

Roald Dahl The Witches Comparison

My Reflection
 In this activity I had to compare the one of the three main characters from Roald Dahl's novel The Witches, with their real life characters.
I was comparing Grandma with Winston Churchill.
 I think I did a good job on completing this activity because I did everything in the success criteria. Also because I reread my work to make sure it makes sense.
I had lots of fun doing this activity.

Welcome to my learning blog for year 5 in 2017. This year i am in Room 24. My teacher is Miss Hughes. I enjoy doing drawing, maths, gaming and soccer. My gold for this year is to get my 5th gold certificate in Mathletics. I am looking forward to joining the school soccer team and learning new things in maths.
